Understanding the Process:

Low pressure injection / compression molding introduces a predetermined volume of molten plastic into a partially open steel mold under low pressure. The mold is then fully closed resulting in the molten plastic flowing to fill the part. After cooling, the mold is opened and the part is ejected.

When an application requires the use of highly reinforced resins and/or materials that are difficult to flow, Low Pressure Injection / Compression molding technology provides an excellent production alternative.

   Pro’s
  • Low molded in stress
  • Simplified mold geometry
  • Low to moderate mold costs
  • Wide variety of materials
  • Ability to form highly reinforcement resins with low flow characteristics
    Con’s
  • Limited part geometry
  • Slower cycle
